I felt lost and asked for help. Another member spoke with me about acceptance and change. Their experience gave me strength and hope.
SCA is a “we” program. While each of us is responsible for our recovery, we may also use the Tools of Recovery to assist others who may be struggling. Help and support are available — we have only to ask.
Most of us come to SCA struggling with various problems related to sexual compulsion. Often, these include trust and intimacy issues. As we attend meetings and hear other members share, we begin to see how being part of a community of recovering sexual compulsives can positively affect our lives. At first, we might feel uncomfortable asking for help or resist accepting support from others. But we may soon learn that trust, acceptance, and service can be the foundations of our recovery.
It helps to talk openly with someone who has similar problems and who understands. Many of us have found that To keep it, you have to give it away. Assisting others in their recovery helps us to maintain our sexual sobriety.
“I know that I am not alone. I can freely express what I am going through and get support from other caring members.”
We will lose our fear of other people and fear of our sexuality.
