In my sober life today, I can choose the next best action to enable me to carry out my daily life.
Step Twelve has three distinct parts that sum up our program of recovery. When we reach Step Twelve, many of us have become more present in our lives and connected to the wisdom within us. Empowered by this spiritual change, we try to carry the recovery message to other sexual compulsives in and outside of SCA by practicing these principles in all our affairs.
Many of us only gradually notice that something has changed: we no longer feel the need to act out our compulsion. Further, we develop compassion for ourselves and others and express this feeling through acts of service in SCA and beyond.
We can now do what we could not do before because we no longer rely on our unaided strength and resources.
Just as our compulsion affects each part of our lives, so too our recovery affects all areas of our lives. As we practice these principles in all our affairs, we become whole, compassionate, recovering human beings, able to accept and transcend our mistakes.
The answer is that my Higher Power did for me what I could not do for myself.
